AIRWAY MANAGEMENT COURSE

Who should attend:

This course is designed for participants who administer oxygen using air adjuncts including oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal airways and LMAS.

Aim:

To demonstrate a level of competency during the skills practice of airway management.

Outcome:

By the end of the session you will be able to:

-Demonstrate the checking of equipment used in airway management.

-Demonstrate opening of the airway using head tilt, chin lift or jaw thrust manoeuvre.

-Demonstrate the correct use of suction.

-Demonstrate the correct sizing and insertion technique for oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways.

-Demonstrate effective ventilation using mouth-to-mouth, the pocket mask, self-inflating bag-mask and the use of supplemental oxygen.

-Demonstrate the use of a laryngeal mask airway.
